10 Video Games People HATED (Until They Didn't)

1. Final Fantasy XIV

You'd hardly believe that when it first launched, Final Fantasy XIV would one day have so many players that there's not space on the servers to accommodate all of them.

That's the state FFXIV finds itself in in 2021, but when it first launched in 2010, it was met with a huge backlash of criticism and a hearty sense of 'meh' from fans.

Square Enix could have completely given it up at that point as a bad job, but they decided that wasn't what they wanted to do.

Instead, Square completely made the game from scratch, and a while later, Final Fantasy XIV returned as Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn.

What a turnaround the game was. Realm Reborn has little in common with its original incarnation, and fans absolutely loved the changes. It became a title worthy of bearing the Final Fantasy name, and has only gone from strength to strength in the years that followed.

It's gotten to the point now with the release of the latest expansion, Endwalker, that the game's popularity is just growing on a daily basis with record numbers of players trying to access the game.
