When it comes to brutally difficult MMOs, few are as complex and complicated as EVE Online. Still going strong over fifteen years after its initial release in 2003, this all-encompassing space simulator has garnered a considerable player base . With a prime focus on autonomy, freedom and consequences, the level of griefing, most notably through ganging up on opposing players and even entire factions. As a result, the title is aggressively unforgiving on every front, and CCP Games rarely lends a helping hand.

EVE has never come with a built-in tutorial, instead entrusting its community to learn the game's systems and gradually work their way into its intricacies. This has allowed the game to expand exponentially while also locking out swathes of the community when it comes to accesibility The closest thing newcomers got to a beginner's guide would come in 2019, with a "Get Started" page on the game's official website. Giving players pointers on the numerous choices of ships and how the markets work provides a rather thin framework however. The game is still incredibly deep and cavernous in its design and there's little on offer to assist players in countering the relentless onslaught of its experienced veterans.
