10 Video Games That Let You Destroy The World
5. Spore
The microtransaction and loot box-fueled EA would probably never release a game like Spore today, which is a shame, but on the plus side, it's still around if you want to have a go with its addictive civilization-building gameplay for yourself.
Spore allows you to develop an entire species, with the game starting you off in control of a single-celled organism, which you can slowly nurture into an entire world of intelligent social creatures.
You'll guide your species through the Tribal Stage - where you learn how to gather food and craft basic weapons - before evolving into something more closely resembling modern-day Earth, and eventually, you'll be ready to venture out into the depths of space, and it's here where things get a little bit more destructive.
The Space Stage of the game is the final step of your species' development, allowing you to contact and trade with a host of alien races, or just fly around in a spaceship and see the sights. Alternatively, you can take a more hostile route by using the Planet Buster weapon, which fires a projectile that will detonate your targeted planet in a matter of seconds. You can even track down Earth and blow it up, if you like.
Destroying planets will make nearby races go all aggressive towards you, leading to the possibility of galactic war. So, we can't really recommend it, though it does look oddly pretty to see a big ball of lava just floating in the atmosphere.
