10 Video Games That Lied Straight To Your Face

5. Battlefield 3's Free Battlefield 1943 Copy

Final Fantasy 7 Remake
Electronic Arts

It’s always nice to get a little extra for your buck. At 2011’s E3, Sony revealed that Battlefield 3 would harbour a free copy of Battlefield 1943 for Playstation players. Sony’s CEO Jack Tretton thanked the inclusion to the extra storage capacity of Blu-Ray. Fans were excited, and everything seemed to be going swimmingly.

Imagine gamers' disappoint then when the disc contained no free copy of Battlefield 1943 as promised. EA responded that they would substitute the lack of a freebie for PS3 customers having all Battlefield 3 DLC and expansions early. Many were quick to point out, however, that early DLC was already announced two months before release.

This episode is one of many questionable business practices by EA. This whole debacle ends happily, however, as EA finally offered Battlefield 1943 after a threatened lawsuit on behalf of disappointed PS3 gamers.
