10 Video Games That Might Literally Scare You To Death
2. Amnesia: The Dark Descent
Amnesia: The Dark Descent is horror in its purest form. Developers Frictional Games know that it's not what you can see that's scary, but what's just below the surface. The game is a predator, and the player is its prey, relentlessly hunted by a deadly, mysterious foe. Like Outlast, the player is not given any means of attacking or dispatching of the enemies that hunt them. Amnesia doesn't feature the same level of fast, tense chase sequences (although you will find yourself running away a lot), but it somehow feels even more terrifying. Key to this is the insanity system, wherein your character will slowly turn insane if he looks at a monster or is kept in the dark for too long. The best option is often just to turn your back on the monsters and stare into the shadows, praying it will leave you alone. And sobbing. Uncontrollably. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u1nY_5-UrY4
