3. Mass Effect: Andromeda
Let's be clear: few fans were in denial about how disappointing Mass Effect 3's ending was, though it sure did put them on the defensive when the much-anticipated sequel Mass Effect: Andromeda was finally released.
Andromeda, which suffered through a troubled development with a new BioWare team, received wildly mixed reviews for its myriad technical issues, polarising story and characters, and the general feeling that it wasn't up to the polished standard of its predecessors.
But fans still reeling from Mass Effect 3's disappointment had to convince themselves it wasn't quite the same crushing let-down.
Despite being mechanically worse than the third game in almost every way, many still clung to Andromeda being the better game because it didn't bungle its ending quite so spectacularly.
Last impressions are important, of course, but let's be honest - how many of us even remember Andromeda's ending at all?
As much as Mass Effect 3 dropped the ball in the final stretch, the bulk of the game is as lovingly crafted and detail-orientated as the first two games, which can't at all be said for Andromeda.
