8. God of War Was Banned In Saudi Arabia For Having "God" In Its Title

There are few words in the English language quite so ready-loaded as that of "God," a word which pretty much guarantees loud shouting contests between large groups of people as soon as anybody dares to mention it. Yes, "God" serves as a kind of hyperlink to confrontation nowadays, but hey, there's freedom of speech, and people can say what they want, right? It's a little bit different in Saudi Arabia, though, where the word's inclusion in the title of the 2005 action game
God of War got it banned. Aside from objecting to the word's usage, Saudi Arabia officials also claimed that the game was banned for reasons related to graphic sex and violence, which, we'll admit, is a far more standardised and relatable reason. But should those traits have been removed,
God of War still wouldn't have been granted a release because of its title. Presumably Sony didn't want to call the game
Of War, 'cause none of the sequels have made it to Saudi Arabia yet (and likely never will).
