The journey gets the player accustomed to the game world and its characters quickly before dealing one of the most harrowing blows in all of gaming, as Sarah is shot by an armed guard.
The tragic death of Joel’s daughter is the launchpad that kicks off his development from a caring father to the cynical and untrusting guardian that players see after the time jump.
