10 Video Games You Didn't Know Were Hidden In Other Games

5. Day Of The Tentacle - Maniac Mansion

LucasArts, or Lucasfilm Games as it was called when Maniac Mansion was created, has been instrumental in the development of adventure gaming. Sierra are probably more likely to be named the grandfather of the genre, but it was the gaming division of George Lucas's company which turned point & click gaming into something to be excited about. Maniac Mansion, Lucasfilm Games' second foray into adventure gaming, was the start of an amazing era for the genre, powered by their proprietary SCUMM engine. The follow-up, Day Of The Tentacle was a bolder proposition - a brilliantly constructed piece of point & click gaming, colorful and with a confident sense of humor. It was also our first sample of the legendary Tim Schafer in a leadership role, which is important for its own reasons. As a special treat for genre devotees, tucked away on a Commodore 64 lookalike within DOTA was a full version of the original Manic Mansion for your point & click pleasure. A real delight for adventure gamers who may have somehow missed it, and another reason to love LucasArts during that golden age.

Game-obsessed since the moment I could twiddle both thumbs independently. Equally enthralled by all the genres of music that your parents warned you about.
