10 Video Games You Need To Play BLIND

9. Immortality

Slay the Princess
Half Mermaid Productions

Immortality is the most recent video game from Sam Barlow, and given that his prior works include interactive films Her Story and Telling Lies, it's not giving too much away to say that his latest follows in a vein both same and different.

Immortality represents an incredibly ambitious scaling-up of Barlow's penchant for detective stories, the player again forced to use video to solve a mystery, albeit in a totally different way to Barlow's previous games.

The result is one of the most intoxicatingly bizarre and envelope-pushing games of the past decade - one brought to life by phenomenal performances from its cast, outstanding production design, and some incredibly clever twists you almost certainly won't see coming.

There's a moment where Immortality clicks and the nature of its mesmerising conceit becomes clear to the player, solidifying that Barlow is operating in uncharted waters and doing something that the video game medium has never seen before.

If that might sound like lofty praise, you really, really just need to experience it for yourself. Once you know, you know.
