Racing games are generally quite tricky to 100%, because a lot of them require you to achieve lightning-quick lap times that punish you for making even the tiniest of errors.

On that note, say hello to Wipeout HD.

First released in 2008 on the PS3, it was later included as part of the Omega Collection on PS4, and to 100% either version, you'll need to match or beat Zico's lap time on Anulpha Pass, which, to be frank, is a total pain in the neck.

Why You'll Never 100% It

The "Beat Zico" trophy is famously one of the hardest trophies to earn in any PS3 game. The 30.82 second lap time you need to achieve is a clear enough objective, sure, but it requires absolutely flawless inputs from the player: you have to hit the correct speed pads, barrel roll at just the right moments, turn corners at perfect angles, and be timely with your boost.

Even getting some of these individual movements right will try your patience, but combining them all together into a perfect run? You'll have to spend days, weeks, and possibly even months practicing the lap. Imagine the strictest time limit you've ever experienced in a game - now inject it with steroids, and you've got Beat Zico.

To 100% Wipeout HD you also have to earn a gold medal in all 87 events, on Elite difficulty. Here, your AI opponents are basically on auto pilot in terms of how perfectly they can race each track. Good luck beating them without pulling your hair out.
