10 Weird Origins Behind Iconic Video Game Weapons

8. The Grafted Blade Greatsword (Elden Ring)

If you're the type of Elden Ring player who likes to grab the biggest weapon possible and bonk enemies with it until they beg for mercy, then chances are you've come across the Grafted Blade Greatsword.

This enormous sword, like the dastardly Godric, grafts multiple blades onto itself to add as much damage and destruction as possible. It's a fantastic way to deal death and scales great with strength, naturally. But fans of the ever-popular Game of Thrones franchise will likely look at it and say, damn, that looks familiar.

With George R.R. Martin being a lore consultant on Elden Ring, it was a given that you'd see some Song of Ice and Fire-style Easter Eggs in the game. The origins of this sword stem from that entirely, as it's designed to look like the coveted prize of the series, The Iron Throne.

The idea of condensing the iconic royal seat down into a single blade is gnarly as hell and makes for a great weapon that you can get your hands on pretty early.
