10 Worst WWE Video Games Ever

6. WWF Royal Rumble

07 Royal Rumble Royal Rumble came out in 2000, at a time when wrestling games were going through their hottest period imaginable. Around the same time, No Mercy and WrestleMania were bringing people to the N64 while SmackDown had just made its debut on the PlayStation. Despite having Warzone and Attitude on the console, SEGA could only look on with jealous eyes at not having an exclusive wrestling game of their own. They never did get one, although they did get a console port of Arcade game Royal Rumble. As you may guess from the names, the Royal Rumble match was the main focus of this title. Being designed mainly as an Arcade game, the emphasis was on multiplayer and the game impressively allowed for nine characters on screen at once. On the downside, the Arcade nature of the game meant that it was initially designed to take your money and nothing more, meaning that there wasn't much else happening in the game. It only had two game modes, Exhibition matches and the Royal Rumble itself. In fact, despite coming out in 2000 it had one of the smallest rosters of any WWE video game, resulting in wrestlers appearing multiple times during the featured Royal Rumble match. Above and beyond the limited roster and modes, it also just wasn't much fun to play. Inexcusable for a game of its time, the roster had move sets that were almost the exact same. Not that the moves even mattered, the main aim of the game was to just batter your opponent with strikes until you could lower their health enough to get them over the top rope. Even finishing moves did minimal to NO damage. Royal Rumble was a game so far behind its contemporary rivals that it was embarrassing. Whether it came from an Arcade or not is besides the point, there's no way its release as a full priced title can be justified. Awful gameplay and no variety meant for a game that lost its appeal about four minutes after you pressed start. At least people who played in the Arcade got to walk away after they lost their first coin, realizing that it's not worth the time or money.
