100 Things You Never Knew About Resident Evil

84. Leon's Got Style!

Resident Evil Snoop Dogg
Capcom

One minor but unfortunate difference between Resident Evil 4 Remake and the reimaginings of 2 and 3 is the inability to change costume on the fly. Despite alternative outfits being as big a part of this game as any other (with various unlockable looks as well as those a part of paid DLC), RE4R players had to back out of the game to the main menu if they wanted to switch up Leon and Ashley's get-ups.

As with many modders, aaronlink sought to give players a quality of life tweak by inserting the costume change option back into the pause menu, as it had been in previous games. However, in doing so, he made an amazing discovery.

Changing costumes in this way unlocked unique voice lines, with the characters complimenting on each other's dress sense. Ashley will remark "Leon's got style", for example. It's a real cute bit of back and forth between them which sadly got cut when the option was removed but - for whatever reason - Capcom left the voice clips in the game's source code. It just took a modder to connect the dots to bring them back to life.
