100 Things You Never Knew About Resident Evil

41. Capcom Love To Reference Other Franchises

There have been numerous nods to other Capcom classics hidden throughout the Resident Evil series, some blatant and some far less so.

Resident Evil Revelations features a vending machine labelled as "Trish" as a nod to the Devil May Cry character, and similarly the wine bottle in Resident Evil Village might be a Dino Crisis reference considering it's called "Regina Rosie".

In RE7, inspecting the spines of the books across the Baker plantation will have you come across Fighting Street. This is a not so subtle nod to Street Fighter, which released on the Turbo-Grafx CD in 1988 under this name, according to Capcom former producer Yoshiki Okamoto, to avoid paying Namco. Yeah, Namco seemingly owned and perhaps still own the name of one of Capcom's biggest IPs. That's probably trivia for a different video, though.

A lot of them are much more hidden, as in "they'll never see this, this is just for me" kind of hidden. Yet fans digging through Outbreak File #2 textures found, amongst some pixellated newspapers, of all things, a very low res image of the Devil May Cry box-art.

Perhaps the cutest and weirdest though is another one you'll definitely never see. On the texture for one of Chris' models in Biohazard Trial Edition demo, one cheeky artist drew a little chibi of Capcom's classic mascot platformer Mega Man. Aww, how sweet.
