First, let’s start by congratulating Leicester City on a splendid job last season. They, and particularly Danny Drinkwater, were immense. The former Man United reject excelled beside N’Golo Kante in a basic flat midfield, allowing the likes of Riyad Mahrez and Marc Albrighton to get forward.

The 26-year-old earned rave reviews for his performances and almost forced himself into Roy Hodgson’s squad for the European Championships. Now that’s enough gushing over him. This is why you shouldn’t select him for your squads.

As has been already stated, Leicester will be trying to juggle a European workload with a paper-thin squad. Not only will they be distracted by the bright lights of Champions League football, saving their legs for the glamour ties on Tuesday and Wednesday nights, but it will take its toll on them physically.

Drinkwater just enjoyed the season of his life in collecting 129 points despite only netting twice, due in no small part to a rake of assists he collected. With Riyad Mahrez perpetually linked with a move away, Jamie Vardy approaching his 30’s and Ahmed Musa and Islam Slimani having never played in England before, the midfielder may soon be stuck for options.
