11 Influential Video Games That Have Aged Horribly

3. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater

Another entry that might sting for children of the '90s. There are two undying truths about the first installment in the Tony Hawk franchise, and they are:

1) No game did more for bringing skater culture into the mainstream,

and 2) no iconic sports game has ever aged as badly.

While the first THPS game started an absolute craze for all things radical, its practically impossible to wring any enjoyment from the original game when played today.

The problem, once again, is that the game's sequels made so many improvements to the original's gameplay that it's not easy to go back to skating before manuals, reverts, spine transfers or any of those other Tony Hawk staples that smoothed out the kinks as the years wore on.

However, he issues with the way that THPS has aged were addressed in the recent remaster, retroactively adding in the tricks that were absent from the first two games.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater was a phenomenal title in more ways than one, though. It boasted an absolutely incredible soundtrack of music from the alternative scene, and introduced an entire generation of children to music they may otherwise never have heard. For that, Mr. Hawk, we thank you.
