There was a point where heroes were nothing more than a yellow circle that eats white dots and ghosts, or a white rectangle hitting back a small white pixel. Nowadays we have fully fleshed out, modelled characters who speak their mind and often elucidate our own thoughts at times.

They fight the good fight, and quite often, they succeed.

We've met a lot of good fellows over the years bearing those traits, more than you can count on two hands *cough* hence 11 *cough*. Heroes in the FPS, RPG, TPS, horror, platformer, etc, across a whole spectrum of genres.

It's a daunting task, but a thrilling one to rank 11 of the greatest video game heroes of all time.
