11 Video Game Sequels You Didn't Know Were Coming In 2017
3. Darksiders III
The spiritual sequel to everything many fans grew up loving about the Legacy of Kain games, Darksiders 1 & 2 have amassed something of a cult following thanks to solid third-person hack n' slash mechanics, bulky protagonists and fantastical tales of good vs evil.
Granted, it's all way more mystical than LoK, but following the re-release of Darksiders II (the underrated sequel of the two), developer Reinhard Pollice was found replying to a fan on Steam, in regards to the next instalment:
"Darksiders 2 Deathinitive Edition was just the start. Since we acquired the franchise we were looking for options for doing a DS3. The remaster was just a way to get some spotlight on the franchise again, reactivate the community and have a better starting position for DS3."
It's worth noting that THQ Nordic are the rising phoenix from the ashes of THQ, who went defunct in 2013. They've acquired a number of properties and been told to kickstart them all over again, and with Darksiders originally planned to have four instalments, it hasn't had a followup since 2012 and is long overdue.
