Spoilers for The Last of Us are ahead so I’m giving you a couple of seconds to nope out if you haven’t gotten to it yet. Still here? Great. Now the obvious bad guy here is Abby, the sequel’s new addition. In The Last of Us: Part II she takes out the beloved Joel toward the start of the narrative, kicking off Ellie’s revenge story to avenge him. Except that the game puts you in Abby’s shoes around halfway through, a move a lot of gamers weren’t stoked about given she’d murdered Joel.

Then again, maybe you’re on Abby’s side and think Joel should have handed Ellie over and not killed all those people including Abby’s dad at the end of the first game. It’s really up to you who the bad guy is in these two games but chances are you agree it’s at least one of them.
