11 Ways Monolith Should Have Made Shadow Of War
6. Streamline The Upgrade System
Upgrading both Talion's powers as well as his weapons and armour is a cumbersome task in Monolith's sequel, and requires so much fiddling around with menus that a lot of players will probably stop using it altogether.
It doesn't help that the upgrades themselves are uninspired as well. The skill tree for Talion's abilities rarely add anything substantial that fundamentally changes the gameplay, usually only increasing already existing skills by a fraction of a percentage. The same goes for Talion's gear too, which upgrades your stats and comes in different tiers of rarity, but in the long run doesn't have all that much impact on the game.
Instead of just adding more to the guts of an arbitrary upgrade system, Monolith should have found a way to streamline it. Rather than incrementally allowing players to improve their character, the developers could include fewer but more substantial options for players to choose from, making for a system that's not only more creative, but easier to keep track of.
