12 2016 Video Game Gems You Totally Missed
8. Titanfall 2
Like a tasty piece of meat sandwiched between two sledgehammer-thick wads of bread, Titanfall 2 dropped right in the week conjoining Battlefield 1 and Advanced Warfare's release dates. And, whilst both of those games are still fine - y'know, they're fine - the really outstanding FPS of the year is Respawn's followup.
Executing perfectly on the original's concept of dynamic transitions between super soldier acrobatics and mech-based warfare, T2 adds on a spectacularly enjoyable campaign, one bolstered by a unique time-travel level and one of the finest "Here's a prototype weapon, go kill EVERYTHING" scenes you've ever seen.
Multiplayer too, is the best this side of Overwatch, a breath of fresh air from the twitch-based likes of COD and Battlefield, where should you even think about an opponent, you'll probably die before you can say "K/D ratio".
Rewarding, in-depth, mechanically satisfying and innovative all in one, Titanfall 2 restores a feeling you probably didn't know was missing from the vast majority of other military shooters - fun.
