12 Gaming Predictions For The Rest Of 2017

10. The Xbox One X Sells Below Expectations

Xbox One X
Microsoft

The Prediction: When Microsoft's nifty new Xbox One X console lands on November 7th, it'll sell significantly below sales expectations.

Why It Will Happen: There's one major sticking point here, that brutal $499 price tag, which may cause many to turn towards the PS4 Pro instead ahead of Christmas, especially as all of the Xbox One X's games can be played on an existing Xbox One console.

Why It Might Not: To be fair, "sales expectations" is a relative term, and Microsoft isn't stupid. They're clearly marketing the console towards the enthusiast crowd (aka people with a ton of disposable income), and their projections will hopefully be sensibly in line with that.

Then again, they may have underestimated just how off-putting that $499 cost is, if the vocally negative online reaction to it is anything to go by.
