12 Worst Video Game Movies Of All Time
4. Silent Hill: Revelation
When Silent Hill was released in 2006, it was a critical failure with minor box office success. It's a bit overlong and a little disappointing, but at least Christophe Gans' film has its bonafides in all the right places. It was co-scripted by Roger Avary, a fan who also co-wrote Pulp Fiction. And it included all the monsters and frightening creatures of the franchise in ways that rarely felt forced.
More importantly, Gans shot the cold, white-out town of Silent Hill with the kind of dread worthy of its game.
So naturally, the subtle, scary mystery and atmosphere was immediately jettisoned for a much more in-your-face sequel, complete with a hard metal soundtrack. How in-your-face is Silent Hill: Revelation? It was released in 3D.
Whatever dignity that Gans gave the series, and the chance of a franchise, ended when Revelation came upon thee.
