13 Video Game Characters You Didn't Realise Were Based On Real People

12. Johnny Cage - Jean-Claude Van Damme

Johnny Cage is a famously cocky Hollywood actor who throws around smart quips while delivering kicks to the face or punches to the balls of his foes. Sound like anyone you know? Yes, apart from the notable difference between an American and a Belgian accent, Mortal Kombat's long-standing comic relief character and the Muscles from Brussels are pretty much the same person. Cage even nabs a few moves from the Belgian's repertoir, including the famous splits bunch to the testicles that Van Damme delivers in Bloodsport - a move that found its way from the movies into video games, then back to the movies again when Johnny Cage delivers the iconic split-nuts punch to Goro.
