15 Best Food-Themed Levels In Video Games

There are a few level-themes that pop up over and over again in video games. Desert levels, snow levels, water levels etc. Most of them make sense, a forest for example is a real-life place so why not make it the setting for some video game levels.

What's weird though is that fictional settings also end up becoming recurring video game themes. Nobody has ever been to a world made of clouds, toys, instruments, or the belly of a giant beast yet they keep popping up in games.

The most common of these fictitious level themes though is the food level, a world made entirely out of edible substances. This can be cookies, cheese, fruit, sweets, cake, if you can eat it, there's probably a level about it.

There's rarely any logic to how these worlds operate so you don't really see them in games going for realism. Instead, they're usually in colourful wacky games where you can suspend your disbelief a little bit.

Also, quick disclaimer whilst most of these levels are worlds made entirely of food there are a couple where giant food is simply present but the world isn't made up of it.

15. Yoshi And Cookies - Yoshi's Woolly World

Clearly the result of somebody playing way too much Yoshi's Cookie, Yoshi and Cookies is one of the most interesting levels in Yoshi's Woolly World taking place in a setting completely made out of, you guessed it, cookies.

Whilst there are a few other cool Yoshi food levels that could have made it onto this list like Pastel Pathway from Yoshi's Crafted World, Yoshi and Cookies just manages to be more interesting.

The colour palette of the world is really appealing with the more dule colours of the cookies contrasting really well with the pink sky. Yeah, you probably don't want to eat anything in this world as it's made of wool, but still, the world looks really nice and I'm sure to Woolly Yoshi the world looks delicious.

Yoshi and Cookies doesn't quite have the variety of later entries on this list but its charm makes up for it, and you even unlock a Cookie Yoshi, what's not to love?
