Originally released on the PS3, Valkyria Chronicles receives the remaster treatment on the PS4. Unlike some games, this re-release prices itself competitively at about £15.

A turn-based strategy/shooter/action game hybrid and a treat to play, Valkyrie Chronicles is set in a slightly fantastical war, where you move troops around the map and assume direct control over them when it’s time to fight.

The combination of the two is a little odd, but it really, really works.

Its difficulty curve and the game overall is certainly hard, but not unfair, and if you put in the effort and pay attention, you’ll find that yourself winning more than losing. Even then, if that is still not enough of a challenge, expert difficulty mode should sort you out.

The art direction is of a very high standard, and whilst you may have seen things similar, Valkyria Chronicles has more than enough little details and quirks to set itself apart from anything else.
