8. Polybius

Trust legendary video game designer Jeff Minter to deliver one of PSVR's most singular and hallucinogenic efforts to date. Polybius is a retro 3D shooter propelled forward by its seemingly drug-induced visuals and pulsing musical score, which encourage players to lose themselves in the propulsive action.

It's not uncommon to play this game and "zone out" here and there, and that's exactly the way Minter designed it to be. Don't be surprised if you remove the PSVR headset and much more time has passed than you expected. It's a fairly simple proposition overall, but at once demented and elegant in its straightforward, old-school approach.

Fun fact: the game also appeared recently in the music video for Nine Inch Nails' new song "Less Than".
