15 Best Video Game Moments Of 2017 (So Far)

8. Crossing The Bridge To Hel - Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice

Hellblade is fast-becoming one of 2017's most divisive games thanks to its five hour length and reliance on early-game puzzle solving, yet there's a poignant narrative dump halfway through that finally provides some much needed drive to all the screaming and enemy-slicing.

I'll stay spoiler-free as Senua's Sacrifice is definitely the sort of thing you want to play with as little info as possible, but know that visuals are one of the game's key strengths. Ninja Theory have always delivered in the rendering department, and once you're plonked on the rickety Bridge to Hel, sword-in-hand as the sun cuts through the Norse mountainside and a demonic force walks towards you, well, it's the sort of moment screenshots were made for.

Needless to say, cutting your way through the hordes in a blur of dodge-rolls, chest-gashes, high-kicks and slow-mo finishers feels fantastic, essentially reframing the aforementioned slog a suitable motivator to see the story through.
