8. Nintendo Switch Passes 30 Million Units Sold
The Prediction: The Nintendo Switch will sell 30 million units by the end of the year.
Why It Will Happen: The Switch sold an impressive 14.86 million units between its March 3rd release date and the end of December. surpassing the Wii U's lifetime sales in the process. This is even more laudable when you consider the immense stock shortages which stopped consumers from getting their hands on the devices well up to Christmas.
Plus, with Nintendo aiming to manufacture 25-30 million Switches this year, an avalanche of appealing upcoming new titles and ports only making the console even easier to market, and Nintendo themselves projecting 20 million more Switches to be sold this year, the numbers just make sense.
Why It Might Not: Perhaps Nintendo's first-party fare quickly falls off a cliff once Kirby and Yoshi are done with, or there's a disastrous E3 showing, or some sort of manufacturing snaffu. Narrowly missing out on 30 million wouldn't be that shocking, honestly. 29 million would still be a great achievement.
