15 Facts About Gaming In 2015 That’ll Blow Your Mind

2. In 2014, The Games Industry Grossed 22.41 Billion In Sales

Often mentioned as the most profitable industry of them all thanks to its individual unit price, gaming's gross total from last year was a staggering 22.41 billion.

Frontrunners title-wise were Call of Duty and The Sims 4 for home console and PC respectively, the second and third spots going to Madden NFL 15 and Destiny on the former, with The Sims 3: Starter Pack (seriously guys?) and Diablo III: Reaper Of Souls on the latter.

It's important to note the 22.41 stat is combined total of all gross sales - so that factors in micro-transactions and add-on packs for every title both mobile and at home - whereas the actual transaction totals for the games themselves only comes to 15.4 billion.

Now you can get an idea on exactly why many money-grubbing producers focus on micro-transaction elements and DLC; it's simply ridiculously good business at this point.
