15. There Are More Women Gamers Over 18 Than Males Under 18

Bit of a weird one to read, eh? It's true though. Although general gender stats are something I'll get into in a bit, it's pretty awesome to read ever since both the Wii and DS brought about the Wii Fit/Professor Layton/Brain Training revolution, it's opened the realm of gaming up to an entirely different demographic.

Stats-wise, 33% of women over 18 play games, whereas for males under 18, it's a woeful 15%. Naturally there's going to be wiggle room in the likes of Candy Crush Saga or Farmville be classed in the same bracket as something like Assassin's Creed or Fallout - and by proxy those players calling themselves 'gamers' - but it's still a pretty cool stat.
