9. Subject Delta - Bioshock 2
One of the best parts of the original Bioshock is towards the end, going around turning yourself into a Big Daddy enhancing your armour and such so that you're prepared for the final battle against Atlas. It was disappointing though, that you never got to be quite as badass as a proper Big Daddy. It was fantastic therefore to boot up Bioshock 2 and find yourself in the heavy diving boots of a Rosie/Big Daddy with a monstrous drill where your right arm should have been. Therefore, powering through the sunken hallways of Rapture as Subject Delta drilling splicers repeatedly was an exhilarating experience. Not only that, but Subject Delta was more than just a powerhouse he was a protector and seemed to have a heart unlike most video game characters with this kind of killing power. The story mode saw you almost literally going through hell to find Eleanor in order to rescue her from the clutches of Sophia Lamb. Despite being barely physically human, Subject Delta was therefore perhaps the most human character in Rapture. Delta definitely deserves a place on the list then not only for being an awesome powerhouse who was a lot of fun to play as, but for having a heart and showing the lengths we're prepared to go to in order to rescue and protect what we love.
High Point For This Character: Many of the sequences where you had to protect your Little Sister from Splicers while she gathered Adam from dead bodies made you feel invincible if you were successful. They were challenging at times but when you laid the traps and used your plasmids just right, the overwhelming feeling of being the ultimate guardian was difficult to top.
