5. Mr. X Gets His Due - Resident Evil 2 (2019)
One of the standout moments of 2019's remake of Resident Evil 2, besides how incredible it looks, is the ever-threatening presence of Mr. X.
A role once relegated to the B campaigns of the original, the trenchcoat-sporting Tyrant has been upgraded to main billing in the main remake.
Honestly, the damn thing creeped me out constantly in whatever playthrough, always happy to smack you upside the head when you least suspect it.
So it was with great relief when it gets its comeuppance (at least in Claire's story. Leon isn't so lucky).
Pursued once more by the lab-born loomer, Claire and Sherry look to be trapped...
...until that whacking big claw from a mutated Birkin cleaves the Tyrant in twain. Well, almost. At least enough damage that he's not going to stomp away from.
For me, it was a genuine "Holy sh*t!" moment, that I didn't see coming. Well, neither did Mr. X, I would wager.
Whilst it would have been cool to see the two have a titan-style punch up, this was still equally spectacular.
And gross, don't forget gross. This is Resident Evil, remember.
