Now it was mentioned earlier that 7 was a massive deviation of the series, and whilst that is inherently true, it's not the first game to do so.

Well, main games, at least. Gun Survivors and Outbreaks notwithstanding.

Resident Evil 4 was a massive paradigm shift, and whilst its charm has waned over the years, it was spectacular at the time.

One particular standout in the game, though, comes in the form of the impromptu knife fight with former colleague Jack Krauser.

Quick time events were nothing new in RE4, nor gaming as a whole. But a whole knife fight, that meant instant death if you failed, out of nowhere?

That was crafty, but we didn't hate it. Quite the opposite: it breathed new life into the midway point of the title, making us more hyped to take down Krauser later on.

Admittedly it still tells us bugger all about the man and who's side he's really on, or why he hates Leon, but who cares!

It was a QTE knife fight, with flashy moves. Granted, you couldn't take your eye off the prompts, but what you could see was spectacular.
