15 Mind-Blowing Facts You Never Knew About Fallout
7. There Was A Planned Surgery Minigame For Fallout 3
Fallout's mini games are an oasis of calm in an otherwise chaotic world - they are little opportunities to test your grey matter and gain advantages, whether it's hacking a computer to gain access to a sweet cache of weapons or unlocking a door to ambush a group of raiders. But there was another game that Bethesda wanted to include: surgery. Admittedly, Fallout 3's mechanics when it comes to broken bones was iffy at best. Usually it would just involve dozens of Stimpaks or having a nap, which isn't exactly medically accurate. New Vegas' Hardcore mode fixes it a little, but it's still not great. The original plan was to include a game where you had to cauterise your own wounds, while hearing your character scream in horror. That might not have been your cup of tea but it does sound really absorbing and gritty. Sadly in the end Bethesda removed it because it would slow the game down too much.
