2026 has been an incredible year so far, but there's so much more to come that isn't simply waiting for GTA6.

2026 so far has been an incredible year for video games, with the likes of Pragmata, Pokopia and Mewgenics bowling over critics and consumers alike.

But the spectre looms in the distance... yes, we still have plenty to look forward to with 007: First Light and Marvel's Wolverine, but of course every eye on the industry is on the expected arrival of Grand Theft Auto VI.

Whilst that game will surely no doubt define the year, it's taking conversation away from dozens of great video games that we're hoping to see across the next 12 months. As such, here's a refresher (or, in fact, an introduction) into some of the game's most intriguing up and comers.

15. Mistfall Hunter

Mistfall Hunter is certainly one to watch this year if you like a game that manages both tight design and versatility.

Essentially the corrupted lovechild of Hunt: The Showdown and Dark Souls, Mistfall Hunter is a PvPvE extraction RPG that can be played solo or in groups.

And it’s not just the tough-as-nails combat that Mistfall cribs from the Soulsborne genre, but also dank, fantasy medieval darkness and an unrelenting sense of danger - both from giant boss beasties but also from being ambushed by other players.

The game’s various betas have been very positively received, with people praising the game’s high skill ceiling and the richness of the content. It’s actually become one of the most wishlisted games on Steam right now, but the conversation around it outside of that bubble seems quite quiet at current.

Mistfall Hunter is coming to Steam, PS5 and Xbox this July.
