God Of War is easily among the best releases of this generation. From the explosive 'Stranger' boss battle to the reveal-packed ending, so many era-defining moments occur that it's near-impossible to pick the best.

However, no moment shows the monumental changes to the series' main protagonist nearly as well as Kratos once again donning the Blades Of Chaos.

After Atreus falls ill, Kratos is forced to solemnly return home in search of the only weapons that could siege the icy realm of Helheim. Journeying by boat, a chaotic storm erupts in his wake, the knowledge of where his journey leads forcing him to finally face his monstrous past.

Pulling the iconic blades from a hidden compartment, Kratos slowly rebinds himself to these deadly weapons.

With a ghostly spectre of Athena reminding him of his sins from the doorway, our troubled protagonist is forced to accept his demons and channel the Ghost Of Sparta once more. He turns, the score swelling, as he accepts the weight of his past, coldly dismisses Athena and, once more, wages war with the Blades Of Chaos.

It's a moment that shows the full-scale of Kratos's incredible character development, his inner-demons acting as the one enemy The Ghost Of Sparta cannot slay. It's poignant, mature, emotional and human, undoubtedly standing as one of this generation's strongest moments.
