17 Secret Video Game Bosses You Need To Beat Before You Die

7. Dark Souls II - Darklurker

How you get there: In order to reach the Darklurker boss (and subsequently wish that in hindsight you'd never stumbled upon him) you have to join the Dark Pilgrims covenant. Tucked away in three separate locations across Drangleic are some monolithic ruins guarded by the Emperor Palpatine wannabe - Darkdiver Grandahl. By sacrificing humanity and clearing three trials of increasing difficulty, you'll gain access to one of Dark Souls II's hardest boss fights.

Why you need to beat them: It's no secret that Dark Souls II isn't nearly as hard as its predecessor. In hindsight, many have criticised how generic and exploitable the majority of II's bosses are. But hidden deep underground, away from the prying eyes of the surface world, lies the Darklurker, ready and waiting to remind you that life isn't all sunshine and rainbows. You need to beat the Darklurker purely because he's a reminder that you should never get too cocky in the world of Souls.

You may think that Drangleic is an idyllic holiday resort in comparison to Lordran, but Darklurker will correct your misconceptions.
