18 Best Moments From The Batman: Arkham Video Games

18. Taking Down Firefly (Origins)

Garfield Lynns is the sort of man who'd soak his torso in gasoline and rub his chest hairs together if he thought it'd spark a fire. But this little bundle of joy's not content with simply lighting a match under a fuel pump and calling it a day, no - Firefly's gone out of his way to wire up Gotham Pioneers Bridge with enough explosives to singe off the eyebrows of anybody in a 50-mile radius.

Far from being the super disciplined uber-ninja of later years, the Batman of Arkham Origins is a man possessed by a rage which threatens to break free of it's shackles at any moment - he's angry at the city that's taken his parents, and at the police force that's done nothing to stifle the flow of crime in Gotham. Alfred had previously alluded to the fact that Bruce may need to move past his distrust of Gotham's finest and enlist the aid of someone within the GCPD, and now that time has come.

With the help of a reluctant James Gordon, Batman's able to disarm the bombs scattered throughout the bridge. That still leaves the problem of what to about Lynns though, and the battle that ensues when Batman finally catches up with the firebug is easily one of the greatest showdowns in the series.

Making excellent use of Batman's gadgets and abilities, the Firefly battle has you dodging the pyromaniac's flames, before grappling onto his leg and soaring through the sky as you trail his jet streams.

It's a dizzying showcase of WB Montreal's knack for creating impressively layered boss fights, something I feel they haven't gotten nearly enough credit for.
