18 Greatest Video Games Of The PlayStation 3/Xbox 360 Generation

14. Portal 2

When Valve released the Orange Box way back in 2007, the immense quality of Half-Life 2 and Team Fortress 2 ensured it would become a best seller on both the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3, yet there was a hidden gem included in the package that very few would have expected to become the next big thing. Portal is a puzzle game where the player uses portals to traverse test rooms and move objects; it's a pretty mind-bending premise but it was beautifully executed. A full sequel followed and Portal 2 upped the ante in many ways. For starters it was longer, and in most people's minds more Portal was never going to be a bad thing. It also added a great deal more humour into proceedings; which being it had always been a funny, black comedy-style game, adding the voices of Stephen Merchant and J.K Simmons immediately made it even more of a blast to tear though. At the core though, Portal 2 simply gave us more brilliant puzzle-based gameplay with a full co-op mode (which was an absolute blast) and a variety of new substances to utilise like the various gels which affected the player's momentum in numerous ways. Longer, funnier and more creative; it's pretty easy to see why people went crazy for Portal 2.

I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
