18 Mind-Blowing Facts You Never Knew About The Uncharted Series
3. Eight Months Of Uncharted 4 Was Scrapped
While the first three Uncharted games were released two years apart from each other, it took five whole years for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End to reach completion, partly because it had a somewhat turbulent production. Amy Hennig, the creative director for all prior games, left in March 2014, after which Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley, the directors of The Last of Us, were then brought in to take over.
This abrupt change over resulted in eight months worth of work being abandoned, as Druckmann and Straley decided to take the story in a different direction. Todd Stashwick, who was originally going to play Nathan’s older brother Sam, was replaced with the more familiar Troy Baker, who had worked with Naughty Dog previously on The Last of Us.
These behind the scenes shakeups were met with a feeling of unease among fans, especially in regards to the leaving of Amy Hennig. Despite this, Uncharted 4 ended up being another satisfying - supposedly final - entry in the franchise.
