5. The Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings
Featuring one of the coolest opening cinematic sequences this side of Onimusha 3, Witcher 2 places you in the leather-bound shoes of Geralt of Rivia, the titular Witcher in question; essentially a glorified bounty hunter complete with demonesque powers and a badass sense of humour. Although the series has a devout cult following, it stands to reason that the vast majority of gamers are yet to experience either of the first two Witcher titles. If youre prepared to get involved in a whole new world of complex mythology adapted originally from a series of books by Andrzej Sapkowski, Witcher offers an unremittingly intricate experience replete with no pulling of punches especially with its tight combat mechanics. With part three on the horizon for next gen, and Witcher 2 providing a fantastically dark tale of swords, sex and spells, if you were looking for a particularly worthwhile time-sink, The Empire of Rilfgaard has been waiting.
