Just like that, all the bad memories were washed away. Watch Dogs was always just 'alright' - a perfectly serviceable open-world game with a rotten core. Its protagonist was detestable, its story nonsense and its 'you can control everything with your phone' premise severely underused.

So with Watch Dogs 2, Ubisoft have 'done an Assassin's Creed' - which is to say, they've fixed every single gripe people had with the original. New hero Marcus Holloway is a firecracker of a human being, his abilities include hacking cars and riding cranes across the city, and its narrative looks to put you at the heart of a WAY more lighthearted 'reclaim the city'-type tale.

Say what you like about Ubisoft running successful franchises into the ground once they're up and running, they certainly know how to listen to fan-feedback and implement it accordingly along the way.
