15. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune
It's somewhat hard to move on from marsupials who wear trousers (Crash Bandicoot) and a grumpy Eco freake and his furry pal (Jak and Daxter) but developer Naughty Dog managed it when they introduced the world to Nathan Drake. Channeling the best features of Indiana Jones and Lara Croft, Nathan Drake was a goodlooking, wise-cracking explorer whose adventure was like nothing else we'd seen before. Although the series has progressed massively in its two sequels, the first title in this now gargantuan franchise is a very important part of gaming history and simply must be experienced if you're never tried it. With tight shooting mechanics for the time, a great storyline, superb graphics and filled with character interaction that until this point had been rarely seen in gaming, Drake's Fortune drew you in and was a fantastic technical showcase of what the Playstation 3 could do. Naughty Dog themselves have since went on to be one of the most respected game developers in the world because of Uncharted, and this game is the first reason why this was possible. Whether you were exploring abandoned german U-boats or fighting bizarre zombie things for some reason, this is an experience that I'll never forget. Nathan Drake had arrived, and it was time to welcome gaming's latest star.
