20 Awful Characters In Amazing Games

Tell a Star Wars fan that your game's villain will be a fallen High Republic Jedi from 200 years ago, and you'll see them start foaming at the mouth. That's the level of hype that Dagan Gera, the antagonist of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, brought to the table - at least, until he started talking. 

While this character's presentation is pretty decent, a one-armed, ancient Jedi turned to the Dark Side, his overall writing and execution leaves so much to be desired. 

Firstly, his motivation is unbelievably trivial. He's obsessed with his personal project, the planet Tanalorr, to a near-cartoonish degree. It's all he talks about, which makes him seem entirely surface-level. There is no nuance to his motivation, he simply becomes evil because the Jedi Order told him to abandon his favourite planet. So, he's throwing a tantrum?

Additionally, his dark turn happens so quickly, and with very little fanfare. This, tied in with his weak motivation, makes his villainy feel entirely unearned. In the end, he doesn't even pose much of a threat, making way for a far more interesting villain later in the story.
