20 Best Nintendo Switch Games
5. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
Any time new Nintendo hardware releases, owners start anticipating the release of a new Super Smash Bros., and in 2018 Nintendo delivered a new entry which well and truly lived up to its portentous title.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is the Smash game, a result of its refined gameplay mechanics, incredible visuals, amazing roster of almost 100 fighters, and hugely entertaining World of Light story mode.
The primal thrill of Smash, however, will always be the multiplayer - especially if you can get a few friends in the same room and just start wailing away on each other as your favourite characters.
It's incredibly easy for just about anyone to pick up Ultimate and have a blast, but as with every prior entry, there's a hidden depth and complexity to combat which unfurls the more you play.
Honestly, it's tough to imagine how much further Nintendo could take the franchise in the future, because Ultimate feels staggeringly close to perfection.
