20 Best Video Game Multiplayer Modes Of All Time
18. Fragile Alliance - Kane & Lynch
The game might have been an overly sweary (to the point of just being lazy) shock-fest, but Kane & Lynch's online component was a fantastically fresh, innovative heist-type deal.
Called Fragile Alliance, eight players must all team up to steal as much cash from the enemy A.I. as possible. The twist is that at any time you can betray your teammates to steal their money - though you don't want to do this until after you've worked together long enough to secure the funds in the first place.
Best of all, killing another player means they'll respawn as one of the cops - militantly hunting you down and receiving a cash reward if they actually succeed in enacting revenge. Essentially a playable version of The Dark Knight's opening sequence, the very idea of such a duplicitous mode died with Kane & Lynch's horrendous reception.
