3. LEGO Marvel Super Heroes
When you think of super hero games and everything they stand for, a heady mixture of escapism, instant likability, expansive otherwordly level designs and above all, charm can all combine into bringing everything to life. Marvel's assembly-style LEGO Super Heroes has all of the above in spades, but it's in the fluid animation, subtle nods to fan-service (like multiple secret Stan Lee cameos tucked away around various corners) and the staggering amount of playable characters that really set this apart. You can hold down a button to Hulk-out, play as Spidey and swing around the open New York (complete with LEGO Statue of Liberty), base jump off the S.H.I.E.L.D harricarrier, terrorise civilians as Venom, blast foes with twin-pistols as Black Widow - you get the idea. Basically, if you've got any sort of affinity with LEGO as a base staple of enjoyment, Traveller's Tales know exactly which buttons to then push to get the best reactions - and when every part of Marvel's most iconic works are lovingly rendered in collapsible bricks, it's just the most joyfully gleeful combo you could ask for.
