14. Mumbo Jumbo's Dialogue - Banjo-Kazooie
Out of all the colourful 3D platformers that were released in the 1990s, none are as fondly remembered as Banjo-Kazooie. Developed by Rare for the Nintendo 64, this game saw players take control of the eponymous bear-and-bird duo as they travelled across a variety of different worlds to save Banjo's sister from an evil witch, solving puzzles and collecting items along the way.
In addition to its infectious soundtrack, charming humour, and creative game design, this title is also known for its ensemble of endearing characters, all of which speak in a delightful gibberish. One such character is shaman Mumbo Jumbo, who talks in seemingly nonsensical chants.
However, in an interview with Game Grumps, game composer Grant Kirkhope unveiled the less family-friendly origins behind this character's speech. Mumbo's dialogue is actually samples of Kirkhope saying the English football chant "Come and have a go if you think you're hard enough." This phrase can even be heard in full in sequel Banjo-Tooie during the Mayahem Temple level.
In the same interview, Kirkhope also divulged that Mumbo's memorable incantation "Oomenacka" stems from "Oh, me knackers", in reference to a time when the composer injured his testicles.
